How to Grow Blueberries in a Container
Container gardening is a wonderful alternative for those who do not have room for a traditional garden. Blueberries make a very pretty container plant. Blueberries are also easy to grow. There are many varieties of blueberries available through mail order or local garden centers. The best type of blueberries for a container are the smaller varieties such as Rubel. The Rubel blueberries are abundant, sweet and easy to grow. Does this Spark an idea?

Buy a large container. The container should measure about 24 inches across or larger if you prefer.

Line the inside wall of the container with bubble wrap. Be sure not to cover the drainage hole at the bottom of the container. The bubble wrap helps to keep the soil inside of your pot cooler in turn the blueberry plant will require less water.

Mix equal amounts of pine bark, potting soil and peat moss to fill your container. Mix thoroughly.

Mix an acidic fertilizer such as one that would be used for plants like Azaleas that thrive on an acidic soil. Follow label directions for specific amounts.

Plant your Blueberry bush in the center of the container. The Blueberry Bush should have enough soil so it covers about an inch or two over the roots.

Place mulch over the top of the soil and around the Blueberry Bush.

Every 3 to 5 years, replace the soil and cut back the roots of the Blueberry Bush.
