XM Satellite Radio is one of the most popular satellite-based radio stations available to subscribers through both home and car receivers. They offer both direct satellite and PC-specific streaming services. The online services have different subscription costs and allow people to use their personal computers to listen to the live XM feeds on specific stations. XM Radio Online is the service created specifically for PC listeners, having its own set of stations and specific setup requirements.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • XM Radio online subscription
  1. Step 1

Log in to your account at XMRadio.com. This is the home of all XM streaming music services and will let you manage both satellite and online subscriptions.

  2. Step 2

Click on the XM Radio Online Player link on the right hand side of your online-enabled member page.

  3. Step 3

Download the player software and allow the installation process to complete. The player streamlines your content and helps relieve the burden on your processor and bandwidth as much as possible.

  4. Step 4

Use the "Settings" button to choose the specific setup for your needs. If you have a slow internet connection, use "Low Bandwidth Settings" so that your download will suffer less from buffering issues or lag on the connection.

  5. Step 5

Choose your preferred station and enjoy your music subscription. There are no playlists or fast-forward options because the XM feeds are the same as the satellite streams and are broadcast "live" from their virtual DJs.

Tips & Warnings
  • Broadband internet connections are highly recommended to help avoid stutter or long buffering times.
  • Not all stations are available. There is no workaround for this as XM does not possess internet streaming rights to its entire music inventory.
