1
Apply a caulk removing solution directly to the caulk. The solution comes in a tube that allows for easy application directly through the tip of the tube. This kind of a product will be especially helpful if you are removing caulk from a surface such as marble that can scratch easily with scraping tools. Allow an hour for the solution to work into the sealant.

2
Take a utility knife with a new blade and begin to slowly remove the caulk from the tub. A majority of the caulk should easily separate from the tub surface with no harm done to the tub.

3
Remove the excess debris with a putty knife by working the knife along the edge of the tub. Go in small sections, and do not repeatedly work the knife over a problem area. If you come across a difficult area, then approach it from the top instead of the side.
-
4
Use a stiff brush to clean up the remainder of the sealant left behind. Mineral spirits can be used to help loosen and small particles that remain.
-
5
Use a sponge to wash the mineral spirits and any remaining sealant particles away. After washing the area, use a towel to dry it so you can begin the next phase of your re-caulking project.

Tips & Warnings
Take your time with this project. You may get lucky and the sealant will lift right off the tub. But if that is not the case, just take your time to prevent damage to your tub and surround.
Wear your rubber gloves from the beginning to the end of the project as they will protect your hands from the chemicals you will be using. Do not use the corners of the putty knife as they will gouge the tub surface. Keep working on the excess debris with the putty knife carefully until it is gone.
