How to Convert Pictures to Sprint PCS Format

Sprint offers its customers the option to upload photos directly to their picture mail service and then send it to other cell phones. Sprint only allows photos in the JPEG compression format, commonly referred to as JPG. This means that if your pictures are in a different format, you will need to recompress them in the JPG format either through a stand alone program or through an online tool. Sprint does not reformat pictures for you.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your web browser. You can use any of the commonly available browsers including Internet Explorer for this task.

    • 2

Navigate to the Zamzar website. Zamzar is a free web resource that will compress your files in the JPG format and then email it to you.

    • 3

Click browse in the Step 1 "Conversion" box. This will open up a standard navigation window that you will use to locate the picture files you wish to convert to JPG. You can only select one file at a time.

    • 4

Select JPG from the drop down menu of the "Conversion" box. There are many different options, but you must select JPG in order to be compatible with Sprint PCS.

    • 5

Enter the email address at which you wish to receive the converted JPG files.

    • 6

Press the convert button. You will receive your email containing your JPG attachments in several minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • While you can only select one file at a time, you can keep adding additional files (one at a time). You will receive all the files you select in JPG format at the same time. You can also enter a friend's email address instead of your own to have the pictures sent directly to her. You are limited to 100 megabytes per day without registering. Registering will allow you unlimited conversions per day. Zamzar is ad supported, so there is no cost to you.

  • Some files are too large to compress or send via Sprint PCS. If your picture files are larger then 25MB individually, you should consider reducing the image quality before sending them. The send process could break either in your email or the Sprint PCS website.
