Put on gloves and a face mask to prevent your hands from coming in contact with the powder and to guard against inhalation. Shut windows, doors and any air-generating appliances to prevent the Drione powder from becoming airborne.
-
2
Look for problem areas in which bird mites and other insect pests may congregate. Typically, bird mites are attracted to dark, undisturbed areas. Common hot spots include behind appliances, pipe openings in the wall, and crevices in cupboards and shelves.

3
Sprinkle the Drione powder in problem areas. Spread a thin amount on exposed surface areas that have dust mites. A light dusting is all that is needed. Typically, four tablespoons are sufficient for every 107 square feet.
-
4
Crawl up into your attic and dust any exposed openings or areas that birds might be able to access.
-
5
Wait. The Drione will effectively kill all dust mites within 24 hours. Its active pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide chemicals kill mites on contact, while the silica dries them out.
