Things You'll Need:
- Measuring tape
- Fishing line
- Scissors
- 40 1-inch square tiles
- Clear waterproof adhesive
- Crystal beads
- 8-inch metal craft ring
- S hook
-
Step 1
Cut five lengths of fishing line to measure 26 inches long each.
-
Step 2
Fold one of the strands in half. Use waterproof adhesive to glue two tiles, back to back, centered on the strand directly over the fold.
-
Step 3
Thread 2-inches of crystal beads over both strands of fishing line under the glued tiles. You can use any size or style of crystal beads, just be sure to select colors that coordinate with your tiles.
-
Step 4
Glue another two tiles, back to back, centered over the strand at the top of the beads. String another 2 inches of beads over both strands.
-
Step 5
Continue to add tiles and beads until you have four sets of tiles and four sets of beads, ending with the beads. You will have two inches of empty fishing line leftover at the top of the strand.
-
Step 6
Repeat Steps 2 through 5 four more times so you will have a total of five tile and bead strands for your wind chimes.
-
Step 7
Cut two sections of fishing line, 12 inches long each.
-
Step 8
Tie each end of one line on opposite sides of the craft ring with a triple overhand knot. (See Resources for help on how to tie the knot.) Do not pull the line taut; leave it loose in the center. Tie the other line across the first line so that you have knots at the north, south, east and west points on the craft ring. Add a drop of waterproof adhesive to the knots. This is the hanger for your wind chimes.
-
Step 9
Separate the 2-inch sections of empty fishing line at the top of each tile-and-bead strand. Wrap the lines around the craft ring and tie them together securely with a triple overhand knot. Position the strands around the ring so that they are evenly spaced. Add a drop of waterproof adhesive to the knots to hold the strand in place.
-
Step 10
Hang your tile and bead wind chimes with an S hook.
