Coby MP3 players are not the most popular brand of personal media device, but work well for the non tech-savvy user. Coby MP3 players are generally very simplistic, and require very little user input beyond loading music and selecting and organizing tracks. If your Coby MP3 player is not working correctly, there are a few issues that could be causing it to malfunction.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coby MP3 player
  • Windows PC (XP or later)
  1. Step 1

Check the system requirements for the MP3 player. Most Coby players require Windows XP or higher and at least 1 GB of RAM to function correctly. Check your Coby owner's manual to ensure that your machine meets all the required specifications before proceeding.

  2. Step 2

Charge the MP3 player fully. Often, a player will act unexpectedly if it has a low charge. A charge can also help reset the MP3 player if it has frozen or locked up. Once the player has finished charging to 100%, see if the problem persists.

  3. Step 3

Re-sync your player. Plug the MP3 player back in to the computer and then remove all the files. If you have not done so already, make sure they are backed up to your hard drive. Unplug your MP3 player and then re-load all of your files.

  4. Step 4

Check for corrupted and wrong format files. Most Coby MP3 players only play back MP3 files, and will perform unexpected operations if files of other formats are uploaded to the device. Go through your uploaded files and check the extensions. Anything that does not say ".mp3" or is not listed in your owner's manual needs to be deleted from the device.
