Fill the tea kettle with equal parts of distilled water and white vinegar; be careful not to overfill it.

Place the tea kettle on the stove top and turn the burner on medium high.

Bring the tea kettle to a simmer and allow it to sit on the heat for 10 to 15 minutes.

Remove the tea kettle from the heat and pour out the contents.

Wash the tea kettle inside and out with warm soapy water and a soft clean cloth or sponge.
