Divide the Loft
-
1
Decide which spaces you want to divide off from others. For instance, if your bedroom and living room share one section of the loft, you will want to separate them for privacy purposes.
-
2
Use any piece of furniture to divide a room, even if it is tall or not. Simple sofas with their backs facing another room will help square off one space from another. If you prefer using tall pieces, consider a bookshelf, decorative folding screens or room dividers with cubbies for additional storage.

3
Set up either of your pieces against the main wall and have them protrude inward into the room. You do not want to place a piece of tall furniture in the center of a room without touching a wall since it will look awkward and mainly not serve its purpose as a room divider.
-
4
Hang curtains to divide the rooms in your loft if you prefer a more substantial divide that is more like an additional wall.
-
5
Buy the fabric panels that match your loft decor, and remember to go with something thick so that you cannot see through it into the next room. Keep in mind the number of rooms you will be dividing so you know how much fabric and how many ceiling tracks you will need.
You want the fabric to reach from the wall to the end of your track, so make sure you measure the length you need exactly. Also measure the distance from ceiling to floor so you have enough fabric to create a full-length wall.
Also, be sure the fabric panels have holes on top so that the hooks slide into them easily.
Hang the Curtains

6
Buy your metal ceiling tracks. The hooks will most likely be sold along with the track, but if buying them seperately, make sure they fit into the track.
-
7
Attach the metal tracks to your ceiling with your screws and drill.
-
8
Place the hooks inside of the tracks if they are not there already.
-
9
Hang your curtains from the hooks. You will see how easily it is to divide rooms by simply pulling the curtains back and forth.
