Kenmore water purifiers are different than most water filtration units in that they use heat to clear tap water of contaminants rather than a filter. The water purifiers are standalone machines that run on electricity to heat water for several hours, eventually bringing it to a boil. Impurities in the water are removed during this process, leaving clean drinking water. You don't have to worry about water contaminants when using a Kenmore water purifier.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove the water kettle from the base of the unit and twist off the cover.

  2. Step 2

Fill the kettle with tap water up to the maximum fill line indicated on the outside of the kettle. Using more water than the maximum fill line could result in lower quality results or damage to your purifier.

  3. Step 3

Place the cover on top of the kettle. Twist it clockwise to lock it in place and set the kettle in the base unit.

  4. Step 4

Plug the base unit into a working power outlet and press the "Start" button. A red indicator light will come on letting you know the machine is working. Depending on the amount of water you placed in the kettle, the purification process can take up to five hours. The machine will shut off automatically when the purification process is complete.

  5. Step 5

Wait at least 30 minutes before removing the carafe of purified water from the base unit after the filter shuts off. The water is very hot and may cause burns.
