1
Plant Anthurium in a soil consisting of three parts peat moss to one part sphagnum moss to provide adequate fertility and drainage. Line the bottom third of the planter with pebbles to provide additional drainage.
-
2
Place Anthurium in a location that receives four to six hours of bright, indirect sunlight each day. Keep the temperature between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit at all times. Never allow the temperature to drop below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, or the foliage may fade and drop.
-
-
3
Water Anthurium twice per week during spring and summer. Apply just enough to keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy. Reduce watering to once per week during fall and winter, but never allow the soil to dry out completely.
-
4
Keep the relative humidity around Anthurium above 50 percent at all times, or the waxy appearance of the foliage will fade. Place a humidifier near the plant and keep it running at all times to keep the humidity high.
-
5
Feed Anthurium once per month during spring and summer using a high-phosphorous 10-20-10 NPK fertilizer. Reduce fertilization to once every six weeks with a balanced 10-10-10 NPK fertilizer during fall and winter. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for proper dosage.

Tips & Warnings
An African violet potting mix can be used to plant Anthurium if necessary. Wipe the foliage once every two weeks with a clean cloth dipped in warm water to remove dust or pests. A spray bottle filled with tepid water can be used to spray the foliage of Anthurium three to four times per day if a humidifier is not available.
Do not place Anthurium in a location that receives direct sunlight, or the plant will wither and possibly die.
