Cleaning the lint filter in your dryer is an important part of dryer maintenance. Allowing the lint to build up in the lint trap will slow drying times, thereby requiring more energy and cost in the long run. In addition, a buildup of lint can pose a fire hazard, as it prevents the air from properly circulating in the dryer. Removing lint from the lint trap takes only a few seconds and should be done before and after each use of the dryer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turn the dryer to the "off" position and open the door.

  2. Step 2

Pull up on the lint filter and remove it completely from the dryer.

  3. Step 3

Remove the lint by rubbing your fingers in an up and down motion over the lint screen.

  4. Step 4

Re-insert the filter into the slot and close the door.

Tips & Warnings
  • For stubborn lint, rub a sock or washcloth across the screen to help dislodge the lint. Once per year, the lint filter should be rinsed under warm, running water and dried thoroughly before being replaced.
