How to Use the Recovery Disc for an Acer Notebook PC
As you use your Acer notebook PC for an extended period of time, you will eventually find that you want to restore the computer to its original factory settings. Restoring the notebook computer will remove any harmful virus programs on your hard drive and wipe out any old files you no longer use. To restore the computer, you can use the recovery disc that came with your Acer laptop. Unlike many other computer brands, your Acer notebook includes a feature that lets you start the recovery process directly from the desktop.

Insert the recovery disc into the Acer laptop's disc drive. Navigate to the desktop on your Acer notebook PC. Press the "Alt" and "F10" keys together to bring up the Acer restoration window.

Click "Setup" and then choose "Create a new password." Type in the password you want to use for the restoration program in the text field and click "OK."

Click the "Restore" button at the bottom of the window. Click "Restore System To Factory Default" and then select "Yes."

Wait for the Acer recovery process to finish wiping your hard drive and re-installing the operating system. Click "OK" to restart the computer.

Follow the prompts on the screen to setup the language, time zone and user name information.

Tips & Warnings
If you leave the recovery disc in your Acer laptop's disc drive and then restart the operating system, you will automatically be taken to the recovery window screen.
Save backup copies of any data you want from your Acer laptop's hard drive before starting the recovery process. As soon as you begin recovering the laptop, every file and folder on the laptop will be permanently deleted.
