How to Play Ode to Joy on the Violin
"Ode to Joy" is a popular tune that Ludwig Van Beethoven wrote as a part of his Symphony No. Nine. You can play this song on the violin fairly simply (compared to other violin pieces). It uses only two strings of the violin and can be bowed with simple, alternating strokes (upward and then downward).

Position the bow on the third string of the violin (third from the ground). This is the D string.

Position your fingers so that your first finger is on the E note of the third string. Your second finger will be on F sharp (F#), your third finger on G and your fifth finger on A.

Consider the following notes of the song: You play D by bowing the open third string. Play notes E, F#, G and A1 on the same string with the fingers mentioned in step 2. You will play A2 on the fourth string of the instrument with your first finger.
