Instructions

    • 1

Determine the size of the bow that you would like to make.

    • 2

Cut the ribbon to the length associated with the size of the bow that you would like to create. For a small bow, cut to 20 inches. For a medium bow, cut to 29 inches. For a large bow, cut to 35 inches.

    • 3

Fold the ribbon to form the first loop. For a small bow, the loop should be 3.5 inches. For a medium bow, the loop should be 5 inches. For a large bow, the loop should be 6 inches.

    • 4

Fold the end of the ribbon back towards the first loop. Add one-half inch from the end of the first loop before folding.

    • 5

Wrap the ribbon around the existing loops until you have all ribbon wrapped. The result will be similar to wrapping the ribbon around your hand.

    • 6

Push a straight pin through the middle of the ribbon loops.

    • 7

Separate the loops so that all ribbon loops are spread out and visible.

    • 8

Shape the ribbon loops to your desired look.

    • 9

Sew a few stitches through the center of the bow to secure all loops.

    • 10

      Remove the straight pin.

    • 11

Pull both ends of the sewing thread to make the middle of the bow appear pinched.

    • 12

Secure the thread by tying a knot.

    • 13

Cut a small piece of ribbon for the center knot of the bow. The ribbon should be around 3.5 inches.

    • 14

Tie a knot in the middle of the ribbon.

    • 15

Glue the knot to the middle of the bow.

    • 16

Take a piece of matching ribbon and cover the alligator clip.

    • 17

Glue the clip to the back of the bow.

    • 18

Glue the ends of the middle knot over the inside clip piece to secure the bow to the clip.

    • 19

Straighten the bow to look the way that you would like.
