If you are looking for new and creative ways to save money, than you will want to analyze your impulsive buying. Impulse buying is the process of buying items that you don't need simply because you are in the right place at the right time and feel obligated to buy.

Here are a few simple ways to curb impulse buying.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

DON'T WINDOW SHOP. Window shopping sounds easy, and with no obligations. The problem is that sometimes we see items we want, but don't need and suddenly think we need to own them. One way to curb your impulse shopping is to stop window shopping. Don't put yourself in these situations to begin with.

  2. Step 2

JUST SAY "NO". If you are asked to donate to charities, or to another child's fundraising efforts, it is ok to say no. You may not have the budget to purchase the items they are selling, you just feel obligated to buy.

  3. Step 3

DON'T SHOP JUST BECAUSE ITEMS ARE ON SALE. When we receive fliers in the mail about discounts or items on sale we feel like we should make impulse purchases that we don't need. THrow away these discounts, they will cost you more money than you save.

  4. Step 4

STOP AND QUESTION YOUR PURCHASE. When you make a purchase, take a moment to ask yourself if you are buying the item because you really "need" it, or are you buying it because you "want" it. Don't purchase items that you don't need.

  5. Step 5

DON'T SHOP WHEN YOU ARE BORED. There are plenty of locations or activities you can do when you are bored. Shopping shouldn't be one of them. Try working out as a replacement. Your body will feel better, and your wallet will remain full.
