Ear Infection

Ear infections in kids are very painful, and they often recur. Many doctors are quick to prescribe antibiotics which are often ineffective, and have many side effects such as diarrhea. A lot of parents of young kids struggle with what to do when their child gets an ear infection. They do not want to give them antibiotics at such a young age, and they surely do not want to put tubes in their kids' ears. A great natural remedy is Willow/Garlic Ear Oil.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Willow/Garlic Ear Oil
  • Water
  • A Small Pot
  • A Small Bowl
  • Sterile Cotton Balls
  • Patience
  1. Step 1
    Willow/Garlic Ear Oil
    Willow/Garlic Ear Oil

Buy Willow/Garlic Ear Oil made by Herbs for Kids from a natural health food store like Whole Foods. Its ingredients include Extra Virgin Olive oil and Fresh Garlic Cloves which have antibacterial and antiviral properties. Look at the Resources section below for more information.

  2. Step 2

Wash your hands. Boil some water in a small pot. Pour the hot water in a small bowl. Put the Ear Oil bottle dropper in the bowl for about 5 minutes to warm the Ear Oil. Make sure that the rubber dropper is not submerged in the water.

  3. Step 3

When the Ear Oil is warm to the touch, pour about 3 drops in one ear by tilting the head to the side. Then, put one cotton ball in the ear to prevent the oil from leaking out. Wait a few minutes, and do the same for the other ear. The warm Ear Oil will help relieve the pain. Do this step every night for about two to three weeks. You will know that the ear is now healthy when it produces some ear wax. You can consult a doctor to make sure the ears are clear of any infection.

Tips & Warnings
  • Usually infected ears do not produce wax. When the ear is healthy again it starts producing wax.
  • Treat both ears because the infection can travel from one ear to the other.
  • Consult a doctor if the ear infection does not improve or gets worse.
  • Ensure that the eardrum is not perforated before you use Willow/Garlic Ear Oil.
  • Once you warm the Ear Oil, test it with your hand before pouring it in the ears to make sure it is not too hot.
