Shark brand vacuums are built and sold by Euro-Pro, a leader in household cleaning technologies. Shark vacuums are bagless, eliminating the need to change a messy vacuum bag, however, Shark Vacs use traditional belts to operate the vacuum motor. If a belt breaks or wears out, suction will be non-existent or drastically reduced. Unfortunately, many vacuum owners get rid of their vacuums at this time, thinking they are broken. Replacing the belt will make your Shark Vac work like new again.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Replacement belt
  • Phillips screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Turn your Shark Vac off and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.

  2. Step 2

Lay the vacuum down to access the bottom, where the roller brush and suction vent are.

  3. Step 3

Remove the four Phillips screws in the center and remove the base plate.

  4. Step 4

Remove the five Phillips screws from the lower plate. Turn the vacuum over and remove the power head cover.

  5. Step 5

Remove the belt cover, and then lift the brush bar to remove it. Remove the old belt from the motor shaft, and then slip it away from the agitator pulley.

  6. Step 6

Install the new belt over the motor shaft first, and then loop it over the agitator pulley.

  7. Step 7

Replace the brush bar and the belt cover, and then snap the power head cover back on. Turn the vacuum upside down again and replace the screws you previously removed.

Tips & Warnings
