Venetian blinds are an easy way to add privacy to your windows. Venetian blinds are a series of vertical strips that can be adjusted to let in varying amounts of light. If you currently have a venetian blind and are wondering if it can cover a different window in your home, you may want to measure it out.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Venetian Blinds
  • Tape Measure
  1. Step 1

Release the venetian blinds so they are hanging as low as they can. Do not allow them to rest in the window sill.

  2. Step 2

Manipulate the blind locations so they are all either facing up or down. If the blinds are in the middle, allowing light in, the blind cords are not at their longest length.

  3. Step 3

Take a tape measure and position it at the top of the window, right where the venetian blinds begin. Pull the tape measure down to where the blinds end. Mark this measurement down. Round down to the nearest 1/8 inch. This is the vertical length of the venetian blinds.

  4. Step 4

Hold the tape measure at one side of the venetian blinds. Pull it to the other side. Make sure you run the tape measure alongside one particular blind. This insures you are taking a straight and accurate read. This is the horizontal measurement of the venetian blinds. Make sure to round down your measurement to the nearest 1/8 inch.
