How to Organize a Corner Kitchen Cabinet

How many times have you come home from food shopping, only to discover that most of the items you bought were sitting in the kitchen cupboards already? With some organization and a little time you can create a time-saving method of using everything in your pantry, and you will not have to keep purchasing the same foods that are already collecting dust in the cupboards before you left the house.

Things You'll Need

  • List of items inside cabinet
  • Stand-alone multishelf racks
  • Remove all of the items that are in the cabinet.

  • Clean the interior of the cupboard of any spilled food, ripped bagged items or anything shoved in the back of the cupboard.

  • Arrange the items in order of how they are most often used. If you have some things in the cabinet that are used daily, keep them in the front of the cabinet.

  • Organize items in a way that all the boxed items are together, canned items are together, and pouched or bagged items are together on your kitchen table. Once you have all the items together you can place the items seldom used in the back of the table and the items mostl used on the front of the table.

  • Decide where you will need the multishelf racks, and use that space for smaller objects such as canned or jarred food. The racks create more space as you can store food on the shelf itself and the rack that sits above.

  • Arrange the boxed foods, such as cereal and pasta, on the shelves that don't contain the racks. Cereals should be placed in the front as they are more commonly used than pasta or baking powder.

  • Provide a row space for bottled juices that can be lined up against the wall of the shelf to save space in the cabinet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check dates on the food you have and be sure to use the items with the earliest dates first. Once a month, take an inventory of what you have before you go shopping to save you from buying foods that you already have in stock.
