How to Mod in Counter Strike
Counter Strike is the very popular mod for Half-life that allows players to engage in realistic combat simulations against human opponents. Players can compete in a variety of game types including the death match, capture the flag and last man standing formats. Mods are files that modify the game's structure to allow for different elements such as graphics, new items, new skins and other tweaks to the gameplay environment. Just as Counter Strike is a mod for Half-life, it can be modded to add new effects to the game.

2
Unzip the mod files to the /cstrike directory on your server using the archive extraction utility of your choice. Winzip and Winrar are the two most popular applications for extracting mod files.

3
Add your Steam handle or other administrator user names to the administrator list of your mod. This may not be necessary for mods that only change the appearance of objects or players, but is commonly needed for changes to in-game menus or physics.

Compile your Counter Strike server. You will need to re-launch the Counter Strike application on your server. If this is a locally hosted game, you can do this just by re-launching Counter Strike itself.

Connect to the server and inspect all of your new components. You should now be ready to host or play Counter Strike games using your new mod.

While you can modify local files for your own server, connecting to private servers may revert your changes. Check with the server administrator before attempting to join other games using a modded version of Counter Strike.
Always scan mod file downloads found on unofficial sites. These may contain harmful viruses or malware.
