Things You'll Need:
- Soil
- Water
- Fertilizer
- Pruning shears

Step 1
Choose your growing spot. Stella does well in full sunshine but can also handle partial shade. It can grow alone or as part of a group planting, and is also well suited for growing in a large pot. Stella daylilies are rabbit- and deer-resistant, so if you have an animal problem in your yard, you may want to plant Stella in those areas.
-
Step 2
Feed the plants. They prefer well drained soil, so water moderately and avoid over-saturation. In a hot climate, use more water; in a cooler climate, you can get away with watering less often. Fertilizer is optional because these flowers grow so well on their own; however, a once-annually fertilization can be beneficial for them.
-
Step 3
Prune regularly. Daylily blooms last (individually) for only one day, so when they die, you should pull them out, stem and all. If you do this regularly, the plant will re-bloom throughout its growing season, and you will never want for bright yellow blossoms in your garden.
-
Step 4
Prepare for winter. When the flowers have stopped blooming altogether as winter approaches, it is time to cut the plants to the ground. In springtime, they will re-emerge on their own and bring you another summer full of beautiful blooms.
