Professionals typically have a golf swing speed of 115 to 120 mph. A golfer's swing speed can be easily measured with a few devices.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Launch monitor
  • Swing speed radar
  1. Step 1

Measure the speed of a golf swing using a launch monitor. A launch monitor is a device that can be placed next to a tee and when the ball on the tee is struck, the device will determine the speed of the swing. Launch monitors can be purchased or you can pay to use a launch monitor once to discover the speed of your swing.

  2. Step 2

Find free alternatives to using a launch monitor. If you don't have money to buy or rent a launch monitor, get fitted for clubs or take a golf lesson. Often these will include the free use of the launch monitor. You might be able to find lessons or a fitting for free or at reduced cost. At the least, the price of lessons or a fitting and the use of a launch monitor will get you more for your money.

  3. Step 3

Measure the speed of a golf swing with a swing speed radar, which is a device that can be attached to the end of a golf club. When the golfer swings, it calculates the speed of the golf swing.
