How to Apply Mederma to an Acne Scar

Acne is a skin condition that affects many in their teenage years. While most people's acne clears up, there are some who are left with red acne scars. Acne scars will heal and eventually fade, but that usually takes longer than most people would like to wait. Mederma topical skin care can help speed the process of fading away acne scars by improving the color, texture and overall appearance of your scar.

Instructions

Select the Mederma product that is right for you. Mederma Gel is the original topical application to help soften the scar and make it appear smoother. As the sun's UVA and UVB rays can worsen the appearance of your scars, use Mederma Cream plus SPF 30 to protect your skin from the skin's harmful rays. There is also Mederma for Kids.

Apply Mederma evenly across your scar, and gently rub into your skin until the topical solution is absorbed.

    • 3

Apply the Mederma 3 to 4 times a day.

    • 4

Apply Mederma for 8 weeks to improve the appearance of new scars.

    • 5

Apply Mederma 3 to 4 times a day for 3 to 6 months for old scars.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use Mederma as directed and be patient, as all scars are different. Some scars will fade quickly, while others can take longer to see improvement. You should see improvement after about 4 weeks.
