A Coleman stove is a popular, portable, propane stove top, considered by many to be a camping essential. As with a regular stove, a Coleman is bound to get dirty with use, but luckily it is very easy to clean. And with regular care and cleaning, your Coleman stove will not only look better but have increased fuel efficiency, flame control and no rust or corrosion.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gloves
  • Bucket
  • Warm water
  • Dishwashing Soap
  • Clean cloths
  • Scrub brush
  • Hose
  1. Step 1

Gather your stove and cleaning materials. Fill a bucket with warm, soapy water. Set up the stove on a table outdoors.

  2. Step 2

Remove any propane gas bottles attached to the stove. Take out the metal grill and clean it thoroughly with a wet, soapy cloth. Rinse it with the hose, and lay it aside to dry.

  3. Step 3

Remove the screw from the center of each of the stove's burners, and lift up the burner rings and bowl to check for any fluid or food debris that may have fallen inside the stove. Wipe up any loose debris that you see with a warm, soapy cloth.

  4. Step 4

Rinse the cleaning cloth. Use it to thoroughly wipe all surfaces on the interior of the stove. Use the scrub brush to attack any tough grease or spillage.

  5. Step 5

Rinse the cloth again, then wipe all of the exterior surfaces of the stove. Use the scrub brush as needed.

  6. Step 6

Rinse the stove off with the hose. Turn the stove upside down to ensure that all water is removed before drying completely with a dry cloth.

  7. Step 7

Replace all of the parts. Close the stove. Store the stove in a closed plastic bag to keep spiders and other insects out.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your stove is extremely dirty, you may want to use a high-pressure hose at a car wash. Just be sure not to use any tire, engine or oven cleaner on the stove.
