How to Make Chocolates on Adobe Photoshop

If you want to make good-looking digital chocolates, you can do so in Adobe Photoshop. While there are several tools in Photoshop that can give your graphics a chocolaty look, it takes just the right combination of effects and filters to get that perfect "real" chocolate appearance.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new canvas in Photoshop. Go to the "File" menu and select "New." In the window that comes up, type in the dimensions that you would like for your canvas to be. If you do not regularly work with pixels, you can change the measurements to inches. Click "OK" to open the document.

    • 2

Draw a shape onto the canvas. You can use the "Brush" tool to draw a freehand shape or the "Custom Shape" tool to draw a basic premade shape. To get to the "Custom Shape" tool, click on the "Rectangle" tool and hold down the mouse button until the menu pops up. The "Custom Shape" tool will be listed.

Once the "Custom Shape" tool is selected, choose the shape that you would like to draw. To select a shape, use the pull-down menu next to "Shape" on the toolbar just beneath the menu bar. To draw with the "Custom Shape" tool, click anywhere on the canvas and hold down the button while dragging the cursor across the canvas.

    • 3

Open the "Layer Style" dialog box. To open, double-click on the shape layer in the "Layers" window on the right side of the Photoshop screen.

    • 4

Click on "Color Overlay" in the "Styles" pane of the dialog box. This will check the "Color Overlay" box and bring up the color features. Click on the color box and choose your desired "chocolate" color from the palette, then click "OK."

    • 5

Check the "Drop Shadow" option in the "Styles" pane to display the "Drop Shadow" tools. Select "Multiply" from the "Blend Mode" drop-down. Set the "Opacity" at 50 percent. Enter 120 into the "Angle" box. Make the "Distance" and "Size" both three pixels.

    • 6

Go to the "Bevel & Emboss" selection in "Styles." Set the style at "Inner Bevel" and set the "Technique" to "Smooth." Give it a "Depth" of 150 percent, a "Size" of ten pixels, a "Soften" of two pixels. Make sure the "Angle" is set at 120 degrees and the "Altitude" at 51 degrees. Set the "Highlight Mode" to the "Screen" option with an opacity of 75 percent and the "Shadow Mode" to the "Multiply" option with an opacity of 50 percent.

    • 7

Put a checkmark in the "Contour" box under "Bevel & Emboss." Select the design with white in the upper left corner and gray in the lower right corner, check "Anti-aliased" and set the "Range" at 35 percent. Click "OK" and your image should now look just like chocolate.
