How to Remove a Whirlpool Washing Machine Cabinet
When you need to replace or test parts in a Whirlpool washing machine, you will first need to gain access through the machine's cabinet. Once you remove the cabinet, you will have access to the entire working mechanisms of the washing machine. Fortunately, Whirlpool designed their cabinets for quick disassembly. Unplug the Whirlpool washing machine from the wall outlet and turn the water supply off at the wall spigot. Pull the washing machine away from the wall so that you can work behind it.

Place a bucket underneath the water hose connection at the rear of the washing machine. Disconnect the water hoses from the rear of the washer and place them inside the bucket.

Remove the two end screws that secure the front of the control panel to the Whirlpool washing machine. If there is decorative trim covering the screw heads, pull it off to gain access to the screws.

Push the bottom of the control panel to disconnect it from the washer top and flip the control panel back. It will rest on hinges in the service position.

Insert a screwdriver into the two clips inside the slots at the rear of the top panel. Push down and then toward the wall with the screwdriver to release the clips. Remove the clips by unhooking them from the back panel and set them aside on the counter. This will ensure that the clips do not fall off the rear panel and become lost.

Press in the locking tab on the wiring harness in the center rear of the top panel to disconnect the wires. This is the wiring harness to the door switch.

Lift the rear of the cabinet up and pull it away from the Whirlpool washing machine base.
