Adding walls to your garage or shed can provide separation for your storage areas or create an additional room in your home. Luckily, attaching framed wooden walls to a concrete slab is not an insurmountable task.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Framed wall
  • Construction adhesive
  • Chalk line
  • Hammer drill
  • 1/4-inch drill bit, four to six inches long
  • 20-ounce hammer
  • 16d nails
  1. Step 1

Measure the width of the framed wall. Transfer that measurement to the edge of the concrete slab. Draw a line with chalk that corresponds to the width of the wall.

  2. Step 2

Apply construction adhesive to the bottom of the framed wall. Immediately stand the wall up so that one edge rests on the edge of the concrete slab and one end matches the chalk line.

  3. Step 3

Drill holes through the bottom of the wooden wall and the concrete with the hammer drill. Pull the drill bit out of the hole every so often to clear away saw and concrete dust.

  4. Step 4

Place two 16-d nails in each hole. Hammer them in at the same time using a 20-ounce hammer. Repeat this for each of the holes you have drilled.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have an air compressor you can try using a pneumatic nail gun, which will force the nails through the wood and concrete without the need for drilling.
  • When standing the wall up, make sure you have help. Framed walls are usually very heavy and can cause injury if one falls.
