What do you need?
Make a checklist of the hair care products you need. Every African-American needs at least 4 hair care products at their disposal. This includes a shampoo (preferably sulfate-free), conditioner, leave in conditioner, and some type of hair oil to seal in moisture (i.e coconut oil, olive oil, etc.) In addition, I would recommend a creamy deep conditioner for moisture, and a protein treatment for strength. Start out by looking for these basic hair products first. -

Check it out!
Once you find a hair care product you are interested in, really "check it out". Read the bottle carefully and check out the ingredients. If you see ingredients like mineral oil or petroleum, chances are it's not a quality product. Be careful, many African-American hair care products contain cheap/harmful ingredients! -

Before you purchase the hair care product, be sure to go online and research it. You can start by just typing the products name into Google. See what pops up..Do other people like this product? Researching hair products is easy and does not take much time. Keep in mind that just because a hair care product gave someone else great/horrible results, doesn't mean it will give you the same results. -

Try it!
Once you've checked out and researched your hair care product, take it home and try it. Like the results? Keep it! Hate the results? Throw it out? Don't be afraid to throw out/ give away a hair care product. Remember, what doesn't work for you may work for someone else! One man's trash is another man's treasure!
