A second stimulus check worth $250 may soon be distributed to an exclusive portion of the American people. For the first time since the 1970’s the cost of living for the average American has gone down. Consequently, Social Security recipients will not see an increase in their monthly checks in 2010. President Obama wants to use this opportunity to mail out $250 checks in an attempt to stimulate the economy for a second time.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Receive Social Security. To receive the second stimulus check for $250 you must currently receive Social Security checks as a retiree or because of a disability.

  2. Step 2

Be a retired federal government employee that resides in a state where you do not receive Social Security. Retirees who fall into this category will receive the $250 Social Security stimulus check.

  3. Step 3

Have no income. To be eligible to receive the Social Security stimulus check you must not have a taxable income. If you have a taxable income later in the year than the $250 may be taken back the government and deducted from your federal tax refund.

  4. Step 4

Check your mail box. If you are eligible to receive the $250 Social Security stimulus check you may receive it in the mail. You may also want to talk to a tax professional. Eligible recipients of the first stimulus check could have it direct deposited by filling out a form when they did their taxes.
