How to Clean Leather Seats and Other Leather in Your Car

Are you a weekend detailer or do you want to just clean your car a little more than you usually do, and your leather just won't look good, no matter what you try? With these 3 easy steps you will be cleaning leather like a pro!

  1. Step 1

    First you need to take a close look at the condition of the leather, is it worn, is it cracked, does it appear to have abnormal ware? If it has any of these problems I highly recommend not doing anything on your own and taking it to a professional and reputable detail shop. If it looks ok then move on to step 2.

  2. Step 2

    Buy some Good leather conditioner, 0000 very fine steel wool or a gentle dish sponge and some Simple Green, a spray bottle and some microfiber towels. Put about an 1/8th of a cup of Simple Green into the spray bottle and the rest with very warm water. Get your supplies and pull your car into a garage or at least in the shade, the sun dries the Simple green mix out too fast. Grab an old terry towel too for the wipe down.     Begin by spraying the leather with a good coat of the mix and then lightly and I mean so light that you are barely holding the steel wool above the leather and just enough to keep it from falling out of your hand. Do this a few times back and forth and with a damp microfiber wipe the mix off and then dry with the towel. You should see a pretty good difference from where you have cleaned and not. If there is any dye or the towel is the same color as the leather then STOP and just clean with the mix and a microfiber,

    When you have finished, apply your favorite leather conditioner!
