How to Use Skype With Timbuktu Pro

If you've ever tried to connect to someone's computer remotely by Virtual Network Computing (VNC), you know it can be a stressful endeavor. If the person you're trying to connect to does not have administrator access to the router, it's almost impossible. Timbuktu can solve this problem by using Skype to tunnel through routers and firewalls, allowing you to connect to a friend's computer in just a few clicks.

Instructions

1. Install both programs, linked to in the Resources section of this article. Skype is a free download, but Timbuktu is not. It's possible to get a trial version of Timbuktu, however, which is where the link in the Resources section will take you.

2. Ensure you and your friend both have Skype accounts and that you are buddies with each other. The first time you run Skype it will ask you to create an account; do so. To add your friend to your buddy list, click "Add Contact," then search for your friend. Find him and add him.

3. Open Timbuktu and Skype, and make sure your friend does as well.

4. Connect to your friend's computer through Timbuktu. Right click the Timbuktu icon in the tray (beside the clock,) then click "Timbuktu Access Via Skype." Double-click your friend's Skype name and you'll be connected and controlling his computer. Technical service can now be delivered.
