Eliminating a water filter from a refrigerator is a simple and straightforward process. However, the steps to eliminate water filter vary from manufacturer to manufacturer of the refrigerator. Following are simple and easy steps to eliminate the water filter.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An empty bucket
  • A towel
  1. Step 1

Turn off the refrigerator by unplugging the cord from the socket.

  2. Step 2

Open the refrigerator and locate the water filter. The water filter is usually located on the upper right side of the refrigerator side. Some refrigerators' water filters are located on the center ceiling or upper right back corner of inside the refrigerator compartment. If you are unable to locate the water filter, review the owner's manual or call the refrigerator's manufacturer help line to assist you.

  3. Step 3

Have a small bucket and a towel handy before starting to eliminate the water filter. You can store any water that leaks in the bucket and wipe up any spills with the towel.

  4. Step 4

Once you locate the water filter, firmly grasp it with the help of a towel.

  5. Step 5

While grasping the water filter, slowly but gently make a one-quarter turn to the left. If it does not turn to the left easily, apply some force and turn to the left again. You will notice water filter started to loosen up. Continue to turn to the left.

  6. Step 6

Pull out the water filter carefully. Do not tip the water filter downward. Pull it out straight to avoid any water spill. If you spill any water, wipe it out with the towel. In some refrigerators, you have to simply disconnect the filter from the inside.

  7. Step 7

Remove the water filter from the bracket assembly.

  8. Step 8

    Discard the water filter.
