How to Block Chat Line Numbers on Your Phone

With long distance now being included for free with most telephone plans, the charges associated with the monthly phone bill have drastically been reduced compared with 10 years ago. But there is still one thing that will cause your bill to skyrocket, and that is chat lines. These phone numbers, also known as toll or 900 numbers, serve a variety of uses but mostly focus on calls of a sexual nature. Just one call to a chat line can increase your phone bill by hundreds of dollars. The best way to prevent this from happening is to set up a chat line block.

Things You'll Need

• Carrier Information (Name & Telephone Number)
• Telephone
• Account Information
• Chat Line Telephone Number

Instructions

1. Determine who your telephone carrier is.

2. Call your telephone customer service center.

3. Connect with a live customer service representative.

4. Provide account information when asked.

5. Tell the customer service representative that you would like to block outgoing calls to 900 numbers. If the phone number is not a 900 number, ask the customer service representative to block the chat line number directly.

6. Ask when the block will be activated.

7. Test the block on the scheduled date of activation to confirm it is activated.
