How to Kill Clover Mites
Clover mites are arachnid pests that feed mainly on grass, clover and lawn plants. The bugs become active in the fall and seek shelter from the coming cold, which is when homeowners will typically begin to experience a problem with the little insects on walls. Although the mites are harmless to humans and pets, they leave rust-colored blood spots when crushed. These stains can be difficult to remove from wall paint and carpet. Things You'll Need
- Pump sprayer with hose and nozzle
- Miticide powder or solution such as Talstar formulated to kill clover mites, fire ants, crickets and other burrowing pests.
- Paper towels
- Vacuum cleaner

Mix 1 oz. of Talstar or other insecticide for outdoor use with every gallon of water in the pump sprayer.

Spray the insecticide around the outside perimeter of the house against the baseboard, extending several inches onto the ground in front of the house. This barrier will kill clover mites for the remainder of the season if sprayed in early fall. If clover mites are a known problem in your area, spray insecticide around the outside of your home before you notice the mites on walls inside. This may save you another step.

Vacuum clover mites off the floor and use wet paper towels to wipe them from walls before treating the inside of the house.

Kill clover mites indoors by spraying Talstar around the baseboards at the edge of the floor and wall, using 1/2 oz. of insecticide for every gallon of water.

Tips & Warnings
Follow the directions when using any insecticide to prevent inhalation, skin rash, numbness and burning, headaches, nausea and other side effects. Talstar is extremely toxic to fish and other aquatic creatures, and should not be used in homes with aquariums.
