How to Update Your Sofa With An Oversized Furniture Throw
Sometimes your sofa needs an update before your budget is ready. Maybe the upholstery is a little worn or the color or pattern is no longer "working." An inexpensive fix is a furniture throw. These are one-piece, very large and wide covers especially designed as a casual cover for your sofa or loveseat. They often come in a choice of textures and colors. They are also usually substantially less costly than slipcovers. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure the sofa you will want to be covering. If you also want to cover a loveseat, measure that also. You may be ordering a smaller size for a loveseat.
-
2
Center your throw and place it evenly over your sofa. Your throw is a very large, one-piece unconstructed rectangle. Now you will need to tuck it in. Do this until it looks like a fitted slipcover. You may need to gather and pin your throw in various spots to get a tailored look. Use large safety pins in inconspicuous places to secure your throw.

3
Toss pillows on the back of the sofa to help conceal the "tucking in" that you did. Throw pillows that are an exact match to your furniture throw will probably give the most custom, professional look.

Gather the fabric at the arms and secure with safety pins. Attach coordinating fabric tassels (drapery tassels) on each sofa arm. It may be necessary to tie the cords of the tassels into large bows first, so that your tassels are not too long. Adjust until you are satisfied with your result.

Tips & Warnings
Furniture throws are machine washable. That's the best part. Remember to remove the tassels and pins before washing.
