Step 1
Exfoliate daily in the shower to remove dead skin. Either use an exfoliating body wash, or an exfoliating scrub, such as St. Ives Apricot Scrub which is inexpensive and effective.
-
Step 2
Avoid harsh, perfume heavy soaps and body washes. Instead, use the gentlest cleanser you can with the fewest ingredients.
-
Step 3
Apply a moisturizer to your skin daily. Avoid perfume heavy lotions which can aggravate dry skin. Eucerin has a good line of medicated and non-medicated lotions and moisturizers that will help keep your skin hydrated.
-
Step 4
Go easy on caffeine, salt and alcohol. All of these will cause your body to lose water, and will wreak havoc on your skin. Especially in dry, cold weather be sure to drink the recommended 8 cups of water a day. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables will also help ensure that you are getting enough water.
