Instructions

    • 1

Open the door with the panel you wish to remove, and power the window in the down position. This makes it easier to extract the door panel; but if the power window motor has failed, this step is not necessary.

    • 2

Take the key out of the ignition to prevent accidental power demand.

    • 3

Remove the door lock bezel by gently prying it out of the door panel with the trim tool or angled pry bar.

    • 4

Unsnap the upper corner triangular molding that covers the side-view mirror access. Use a screwdriver or pry tool to do this, and put a cloth down to protect the paint and keep the window from getting scratched or chipped.

    • 5

Unsnap and remove the door handle bezel.

    • 6

Gently pry the power control console up from the arm rest. Unplug the wire harnesses attached the console. The plugs are different sizes and cannot be mixed up when reinstalling.

    • 7

Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screw behind the arm rest.

    • 8

Pry the bottom of the door panel away from the door frame, starting at the bottom and then working your way up each side. Use the pry tool and the cloth. The door panel is secured inside by retaining clips and seats.

    • 9

Support the door frame close to the door but with enough room to reach behind it and unplug the interior door light wire harness and the speaker wire. Lift up to unseat the door panel from the door frame and remove it.

    • 10

      Reinstall by reversing the procedure.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're replacing an OEM side-view mirror, you don't have to remove the entire door panel. Just unsnap the molding covering it, unplug the interior wire harness and then remove the three retaining nuts securing the mirror to the door frame. For an aftermarket directional light side-view mirror, you must remove the door panel in order to wire in the connection to the interior wires.
