Instructions

  1. Stain Removal

    • 1

Hold the dirty baseball hat under the cold tap or soak it in a basin of cold water until it is completely wet.

    • 2

Pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda into a small dish. Add hydrogen peroxide about 1 tbsp. at a time and mix it with an old toothbrush to form a thin paste.

    • 3

Use the toothbrush to scrub the hat inside and out with the paste, working on one small area at a time. Rinse the paste off under the cold tap while you work. Concentrate on the brim and any heavily stained areas.

    • 4

Rinse away all the cleaning solution and examine the hat. If it is completely clean, rinse it thoroughly in cold water and leave it to dry. Otherwise, proceed to Step 5.

    • 5

Place the baseball hat securely on the top rack of your dishwasher, right-side up. You can include dishes, too, if they have been rinsed first. Run the regular dishwasher cycle or the quick-rinse cycle: This should wash the hat without it moving around or being agitated. Allow the hat to dry thoroughly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Test the baking soda-hydrogen peroxide stain remover on an unseen part of the hat for colorfastness before using it. For really tough stains, let the stain remover sit for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing it off.
