MySpace is a large social networking site that allows users to build free, customizable personal websites. MySpace members often use the site to reconnect with long-lost acquaintances, chat with family members and friends or find dates. Although Facebook is the fastest growing social network, according to reports from Techtree.com, MySpace remains the premier site for posting and sharing multimedia files on user profiles. Because of recent site modifications made to the MySpace dashboard, procedures for adding music to profiles also have changed. The My Playlist element now creates a music profile widget containing songs added by the user.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • MySpace account
  1. Step 1

Log on to MySpace.com. From the top "Profile" drop-down menu, click "My Playlists."

  2. Step 2

Locate the "My Playlists" box at the bottom right of the screen. Click the gray arrow next to "Public Playlists" to display all playlists.

  3. Step 3

Hover the mouse over "My Profile Playlist" and click the edit link that appears to the right. To find music to add to the playlist, locate the music search box at the top of screen.

  4. Step 4

Type in the title of an artist, song or album and click the search button. The search results will retrieve all available albums by the selected artist or all songs containing similar keywords.

  5. Step 5

Click the blue "+" button next to the song title to add it to the profile playlist. Search and add until the 10-song maximum is reached and the playlist becomes full.

  6. Step 6

To view the playlist on the profile page, choose "Profile" from the top menu then click "My Profile." Since the MySpace player will not automatically start, click the blue "Play" button to activate the playlist.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use Playlist.com to create a MySpace compatible, auto-start music player with a 100-song maximum.
  • Additional playlists will not appear on the profile page. Only songs added to the public "My Profile Playlist" will post to the MySpace user profile.
