Step 1
Examine the hardware connecting your headboard to the bed. The hardware consists of the bolts and rails that connect the headboard to the frame of your bed. Use a wrench or screwdriver to tighten any loose bolts or screws that may be loose on the headboard.
-
Step 2
Spray the slats and rails of the bed with a lubricant. A lubricating substance can often resolve headboard squeaks on a bed. You can use WD-40, available for purchase through any hardware store to spray on the slats and rails.
-
Step 3
Turn your box spring upside down. It could be an issue with the box spring causing the squeaking from the headboard.
-
Step 4
Firm up the joints of the bed. Loose joints can cause a headboard to squeak. Apply glue that is safe to use on the bed; one example is Chairlok. Apply a small amount of glue between the joints to secure them in place.
-
Step 5
Secure the headboard to the wall of your room. One fix you can try if all else fails is to mount the headboard to the wall. This will lock it into place as a way to fix the squeaks. Use an electric drill to screw the headboard into the wall. Keep in mind that this does create permanent holes in your headboard.
