How to Fit or Find Your Bra Size

Many women do not know how to measure themselves in order to find the correct bra size. This can lead to spending money on bras that are uncomfortable. Wearing the wrong-size bra is also not good for your back. Bringing a few measurements with you to the store will help you get a bra that fits just right.

Instructions

    • 1

Take your shirt off and put on a bra that contains no padding. You will need to stand straight up with good posture to get a good measurement. Make sure you are not holding your breath.

    • 2

Take the tape measure and measure just above your breasts. The tape measure should be under your arms. Take a look at the number. If it is an even number, write it down in your notepad as your band size. If the number is odd, add one to it to get your band size.

    • 3

Take your tape measure and measure all the way around your back over the largest part of your breast. Write this number down as your bust size.

    • 4

Subtract your bust size from your band size. So if your bust measured 36 inches and your band measured 32 inches, you would have a difference of four inches.

    • 5

Convert your inches into a cup size by counting each inch as a letter. Three inches would equal a C cup. Four inches would equal a D cup.

    • 6

Purchase a bra with the band size number and your cup size. If your band measurement was 36 inches and your cup size was a C, then you are looking for a bra labeled 36 C.

    • 7

Try a few bras on that match your size to find the one that feels the most comfortable.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that the shoulder straps are adjustable so you can customize them for your height.

  • Don't purchase an underwire bra that feels too tight.
