Songs on a MAC or PC can be transferred to any iPod by using the iTunes audio program. You may have accidentally deleted songs from your computer or you may have needed to reinstall the iTunes software. Unfortunately, you cannot transfer songs directly from an iPod into the iTunes library on your computer. By installing the right application onto your computer, however, you can transfer music files on any iPod into the iTunes folder on a PC or MAC.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download and install the recovery tool named iPod Rip (see "References," below).

  2. Step 2

Plug the iPod containing the songs you want to copy into your computer.

  3. Step 3

Open "iPod Rip." A window will appear.

  4. Step 4

Select "Manual Recovery." Click "Continue." The music on the plugged-in iPod will be listed in a large window.

  5. Step 5

Highlight each of the songs on the iPod that you wish to copy to the computer. Click "Import" at the bottom of that window. The songs will then be added to the iTunes library on the computer.

Tips & Warnings
  • iPod Rip is free to use for the first 100 songs copied onto the MAC or PC. After 100 songs, you must purchase iPod Rip if you wish to continue using it.
