How to Add Subtitles to a Movie

Some of the best foreign films aren't always equipped with subtitles. Fortunately, the public sector has taken it upon itself to design codecs that enable you to add your own subtitles.

Instructions

1. Download DirectVobSub (see References below) and run the file once it has been downloaded to install the subtitle display software. Be sure to download it with the installer.

2. Get subtitles from Divxsubtitles.net. Rename the subtitle file so that the file name (excluding the extension) is the same as the movie. For example, if your movie name is "movie.avi," then the proper name for your subtitles would be "movie.sub."

3. Open Windows Media Player and load your movie file, which must have a movie extension such as .avi, .mpeg or .divx. To do this, select "File," then "Open," and browse to your movie location.

4. Select the movie file and click "Open."

5. Click on "Play," then "Lyrics, Captions and Subtitles" and then "On," once your movie has started.
