1
Make the bottom by gluing seven of the slats to one of the long edges of a rectangle. The slats are going to make the bottom and the rectangle will make the side. Make sure to nail each slat to the rectangle along with gluing them. Attach the seven slats to the opposite rectangle to make the other side.

Attach four more slats to make the front of the chest. Starting at the bottom and using glue and finishing nails make sure each slat is flush with the last, and flush with the top. Turn the chest over and attach 4 more slats to the back taking care to make each slat flush with the next, and flush with the top.

3
Make the top by taking both of the half circles and one slat. Stand the half circles up and line up the edge of the half circle with the slat and attach with nails. Make sure that the slat is flush with the bottom of the half circle. Attach the other end of the slat to the other half circle with finishing nails.

4
Take another slat and line it up flush with the edge of the half circle, on the opposite side as the last slat you attached. Then attach the other end of the slat to the other half circle. So now you have two half circles across from one another, with a slat on either side.
-
5
Attach the rest of the slats evenly spaced over the top of the half circles, alternating from front side to the back side, so the distance between each can be better judged. The top is now complete.
-
6
Attach hinges with screws to the inside of the chest and the inside of the lid. And then you can even add a lock. Your treasure chest is now ready for your treasure.

Tips & Warnings
Stain or treat the chest before adding any hardware so the stain would not ruin the fixtures.
Make sure to not leave a hot glue gun unattended, and take care if you let little ones assist in the assembly.
