How to Sew a Neck Warmer
When it comes to bitter winter winds, there can never be too many warm clothes. Scarves are useful for filling in the gap where your jacket opens at the throat, but the ends tend to trail off and get caught and snagged on things, and the scarf can slip and slide around. Cozy fleece neck warmers stay put, fill in the gaps better than scarves, and can be made in any color or pattern that you like.

1
Lay out the fleece on the table, with the selvage edges on the right and left. Fold selvages together to find the center of the fabric, and cut along this fold. You will now have two pieces of fabric measuring 18 by 22 inches.

2
Cut the selvage from each piece of fabric. Lay aside one piece to make another neck warmer after this one. Fold the remaining piece of fleece in half horizontally, creating a folded piece 9 by 22 inches, with the right sides together. Use the sewing machine to sew the long edge together.

Turn the tube right side out. Begin to turn the tube inside out again, but stop when you are halfway there. You now have a halfway inside out tube with the right sides together. Match up the two raw edges at the top of the tube end. Pin carefully, then sew along this edge, stopping about 4 inches from the end. Back stitch to secure the end of the seam.

Turn the warmer right side out through the 4-inch space that you left. Use the needle and thread to slip stitch the remaining 4 inches closed. Smooth the fleece down, with the seam at the back of the warmer, and you are finished.

Tips & Warnings
If made in brown, tan or black, these warmers are very welcome gifts for U.S. troops in the Middle East, and it's very easy to make a large number of them in a small amount of time.
