How to Change Your Skype Name

How to Change Your Skype Name thumbnail
You can change your real name, but not your username, in Skype.

Skype is a commonly used Internet-based program that allows you to call other Skype users over the Internet, anywhere in the world, for free. You can also call land lines and cell phones for a modest fee. Installing and setting up Skype is a fairly easy process; you then only need a microphone and speakers or a headset to begin using Skype. Whenever you are connected to the Internet, either through Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable, you can call any other online user in your contact list. It is possible to change the real name listed in Skype, but the only way to change your Skype username is to create a new account.

  1. New Username

Tips & Warnings

  • When you first create your Skype account, you will be asked for both your username and your real name. Either of these names can be used to find your account, and your username will be what is displayed in your friends' contact lists. You should try to make your Skype name unique so that your friends can easily find it.
