How to Buy Personal Development Books Wholesale
How do you obtain personal development books to sell or give away with your workshop or training class? The world of publishing is often mysterious to consumers, and many people believe that obtaining books wholesale is the purview of book stores only. Getting a supply of your favorite self-help book may be simper than you think. If you are a self-employed consultant who is teaching workshops on the side, or if you need a special book for a class you are teaching, you probably don't need to set up a business to buy the books.

Buying Books in Bulk
-
1
Select the book you want to buy. Obtain the name of the publisher from the credits in the front of the book.
-
2
Look up the address, telephone number, and web address (if any) of the publisher of the book. Give them a call to learn if the book is still in print. If so, the publisher has a supply of the book or the book is scheduled for another printing soon.

3
Contact the individual at the publishing house who is responsible for book sales. Ask about discounts for bulk purchases of the book you are interested in. All book publishers will happily box up a couple of gross of one of their books and ship them to anyone who wants to buy them in bulk. No one will ask you to show a business license or permit to sell books. You probably won't, however, be able to get a return guarantee for unsold books. In other words, if you don't sell them, you cannot expect the publisher to buy them back from you like book stores do.
-
4
Search websites like eBay, Amazon.com, and Overstock.com for sellers that have a supply of the book if it is out of print and you can't get it from the publisher. Contact the seller directly to find out if they have multiple copies of the book and would give you a discount for a bulk purchase. Find a drop shipping directory on the Internet for a list of drop shippers who be able to sell to you in bulk.
-
5
Look up the author of the book and give him or her a call. The author may have a stray box or two of the book sitting around the house and be willing to sell them to you. He also may know of someone who does have a supply of remainder copies of the book he can connect you with.
-
6
If you plan to sell the book directly, you will need to charge sales tax according to local laws. If you give away the book as a value-added part of a workshop or training class you are offering, the cost of the book could actually be a deductible expense. Check with your tax accountant.
