How to Grow an Aloe Vera Plant
Aloe vera is a succulent plant that is 95 percent water and is easy to maintain as it is adapted to dry conditions and needs little watering. However, unless you live in areas where the temperature remains above freezing year round, you will want to keep your aloe indoors during the cold season as it is not very tolerant of frost. Growing an aloe vera plant in your house is a great way to keep a fresh supply of this very useful herb right at your fingertips. You can propagate new aloe vera plants once you have a healthy one growing and even start breeding and selling these beautiful and medicinal plants. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

Grow your own Aloe Plant
-
1
Make sure that the aloe is planted in clay pot as plastic will not absorb excess moisture and can lead to your plant developing moldy conditions.
-
2
Put several small stones around the base of the plant or even right under the soil. The aloe needs strong support for its root system and these rocks can provide it with extra stability and insure a healthier plant with a longer lifespan.

3
If your plant is outside, sprinkle some Epsom salts around your aloe during the rainy season to help absorb the extra moisture that is not needed by the plant to keep the soil from becoming muddy.
-
4
Keep the aloe in full sun or partial shade as this is the condition that aloe likes in its natural habitat. The aloe needs plenty of sunshine to grow and prosper properly and will not dry out due to its high moisture content.
-
5
Water the aloe only occasionally during the dry season or if indoors, and not at all during the wet season. Bring the aloe inside during times of heavy rainfall or protect it with a tarp or other covering.
-
6
Use a high quality commercial potting soil that is high in mineral content as the aloe will absorb these nutrients and put them to use through a healthy grow period in the summer.
-
7
Propogate new aloe vera plants by cutting off rhizomes from the root system and using the same method described above.
