How to create a Halloween costume for the game Operation

Need a creative idea for the office Halloween costume contest? Try making yourself a life-size version of the game operation. Your co-workers will appreciate your creativity and just might win you the big prize!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• White sweatshirt and sweatpants
• Scissors
• Scotch Tape
• Hot glue gun or super glue
• Black Sharpie
• Two thick rubber bands
• Stapler
• Small hair clip
• Clown nose
• BBQ Thongs
• 1 15-count package of round Velcro adhesives
• 1 piece of 12 x 8 felt in the following colors: white, tan, gray, red, brown, pink and light blue (or purple, green, etc).

1. You will want to begin by making the individual game pieces.

2. 
    

   Water on the Knee: Use the sharpie to draw a water pail with handle on the gray felt. Use the scissors to cut out the piece. Turn the piece over (so any stray marks will appear on the back). Label the piece.

3. 
    

   Wrenched Ankle: Draw a wrench on the gray felt. Cut out the piece, turn it over and label it.

4. 
    

   Wish Bone: Draw a wish bone on the white felt. Cut it out and turn it over and label it. Since this piece is white and your sweat suit is white, you will want outline the piece with the sharpie so it stands out.

   Funny Bone: Draw a bone on the white felt. You will want to make it a little long so you will have room to label it. Cut it out, turn it over, outline it and label it.

   Spare Ribs: Draw a pair of ribs on the white felt. Cut it out, turn it over, outline it and label it.

7. 
    

   Bread Basket: Draw a piece of bread on the tan felt. Cut it out, turn it over and label it.

   Brain Freeze: Draw an ice cream cone on the tan felt. Draw the ice cream portion of the cone on the white felt. Cut out each piece. One the back side of the pieces, use tape to attach the bottom of the cone to the top. Turn them over and label the piece.

   Writer's Cramp: Cut a pencil shape (minus the eraser) out of tan felt. Cut the eraser part out of pink felt. On the back side of each piece, attach the eraser to the end of the pencil using tape. Turn the piece over and label the piece. Use the sharpie to slightly shade the tip of the pencil.

    Charlie Horse: Draw a horse on the brown felt. Cut it out, turn it over and label it.

    Broken Heart: Draw a heart on the red felt. Cut it out. After you have cut it out, cut out a crack down the middle of the heart to about the halfway point. Turn the heart over and label the piece.

    Adam's Apple: Draw an apple on the red felt and cut it out. Draw a small stick on the brown felt and cut it out. Using tape, attach the stick to the top of the apple on the back side. Turn the piece over and label it.

    Butterflies in the Stomach: Draw two wings on the pink felt. Draw a body on the light blue felt (or whichever color you choose). Cut out each piece. On the back of the pieces, attach the wings to the body. Turn the piece over and label it.

    Ankle Bone connected to the Knee Bone: Cut the two rubber bands in half. Staple the ends together. This piece will not be labeled.

15. 
     

    The piece for Brain Freeze goes in your hair. To assemble this piece, hot glue or super glue the hair clip to the back of the brain freeze piece.

    For all of the other pieces, you will use Velcro to attach them. Turn each piece over. On the back of each, stick one or two Velcro circles. It doesn't matter if you use the sticky Velcro or the soft Velcro, but be sure to use the same on each piece.

17. Now you are ready to get dressed. Put on your sweatshirt and sweatpants. As you attach each piece, use the second half of the Velcro set leaving the sticky back side of the Velcro up so that you can apply it to your clothing.

18. Attach each piece in the correct position: Water on the Knee on your left knee, Wrenched Ankle as close to your left ankle as you can, Wish Bone on your right upper chest, Funny Bone on your right forearm, Spare Ribs on your left mid to lower chest, Bread Basket on your stomach, Writer's Cramp as close to your left wrist as you can, Charlie Horse on your right thigh, Broken Heart over your heart, Adam's Apple as close to your neck as you can, Butterflies in the Stomach on your left mid to lower chest and the rubber bands on your right lower leg. Press each piece firmly so they will stay attached. You do not actually have to remove any of the pieces, but the Velcro will allow you to if you wish.

19. The final steps are to secure the Brain Freeze piece in your hair with the clip and put on the clown nose. The BBQ thongs will act as the tweezers.
